「Hey Siri、
Hirameki is an iPhone app (English and Japanese) where saying “Hey Siri, Eureka” brings out your buddy — a cat, dog or owl — to listen to whatever just came to mind. Your words are saved as they are and sorted into categories. It also keeps a shopping list.
How do I set up “Hey Siri, Eureka”?
In Apple’s Shortcuts app, create a shortcut, add Hirameki’s “Talk to My Buddy” action and name the shortcut “Eureka”. Say “Eureka” to Siri and your buddy starts listening. The steps are also in the app’s settings.
The microphone or speech recognition doesn’t work
The app asks for microphone and speech recognition access the first time you talk. If you declined, change it in the iOS Settings app → Hirameki. The app uses on-device speech recognition only, so it stops listening when your device or language does not support it. You can always type instead.
How do I add to the shopping list?
Once your buddy is listening, say something like “Add milk and eggs to my shopping list”, then tap “Give”. Each item goes on the list. Tap an item to mark it bought, and use “Clear Bought Items” to remove bought items together.
How do I add an event to my calendar?
When an idea mentions a date or time (for example “dentist tomorrow at 3pm”), its card shows “Add to Calendar”. Tap it to open a new event with the title and time filled in, choose a calendar and tap ✓ to save. The app never reads your calendar and asks for no calendar access. It isn’t shown for times that have passed, shopping lists, or “Friday” / “next week” in older ideas.
Can events be added automatically?
Turn on “Add ideas with a date to my calendar automatically” in settings and allow adding to your calendar. When a new idea has exactly one date or time that hasn’t passed, its title and time go into your default calendar (the idea’s text isn’t put in the event notes). You can delete those events in the Calendar app.
How do I add the widget?
Touch and hold the Home Screen, tap +, choose Hirameki and pick small or medium. For the Lock Screen, touch and hold it, tap Customize and choose the circular or rectangular Hirameki widget. Tapping starts listening right away. Medium comes with Hirameki Plus.
Can I talk from Control Center or the Action Button?
On iOS 18 and later: touch and hold Control Center, tap Add a Control and choose Talk to my buddy. For the Action Button, pick Controls in Settings > Action Button.
Do widgets show my idea titles?
Turn on “Show idea titles in the Home Screen widget” in settings and the Home Screen widget shows them (off by default). Lock Screen widgets never show them.
My ideas aren’t organized automatically
Organizing with on-device AI is part of Hirameki Plus and works on Apple Intelligence devices with iOS 26 or later when Apple Intelligence is turned on. Otherwise, ideas are sorted with simple rules. You can change any idea’s category by tapping the category name on its card.
Is it free? What is Hirameki Plus?
For free you can call your buddy with Siri and save by voice, use the shopping list, and export. The free plan holds up to 30 ideas (the shopping list doesn’t count) and the one buddy you chose first. Hirameki Plus (monthly, yearly or lifetime) gives you unlimited ideas, all three buddies, iCloud sync and on-device AI organizing.
If I stop Hirameki Plus, are my ideas deleted?
No. You can still read, edit and export every idea. If you have 30 or more, only saving new ones stops. iCloud sync pauses, but your iCloud data is not deleted. Cancel a monthly or yearly plan in the iOS Settings app → your name → Subscriptions.
What happens when I get a new phone?
With Hirameki Plus, your ideas come back from iCloud when you sign in with the same Apple Account. Restore your purchase with “Restore Purchases” on the Hirameki Plus screen. To be safe, you can also save a file with “Export Data (JSON)” in Settings and bring it back with “Import Exported JSON” (importing beyond 30 ideas on the free plan needs Hirameki Plus).
Can I restore a deleted idea?
Yes, from “Recently Deleted” in Settings. Nothing is deleted from there automatically. Ideas you “Delete Forever” cannot be restored.
See the Privacy Policy for how your data is handled.
